RULES FOR WASHINGTON DISTRICT 1 BARREL RACES:

*BRINGING DOGS TO RACES
*ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AT RACES
*ANIMAL ABUSE (EXCESSIVE WHIPPING OR JERKING ON YOUR HORSE).
*NSF FEE ON ALL RETURNED CHECKS TO NBHA

DOGS:
This past year we saw an increase in the dog population at races. On our insurance policy we state that
dogs are not allowed at our races. If someone gets bit or hurt, we risk losing our coverage. Please do not
bring your dogs to our races.

ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AT RACES
Drinking alcoholic beverages at our races is prohibited. This is a NBHA rule. This is also an insurance issue,
a safety issue, and just common sense. If we have any claim against our District for someone riding at our
races while under the influence of alcohol and they get hurt, or they get someone else hurt, District 1 will
loose our insurance coverage, which we need for our races. That would mean that we "District 1" no longer
would not have any barrel races, as our district would not exist.

EXCESSIVE WHIPPING, JERKING OR OTHER SIMILAR ABUSE OF A HORSE
Excessive whipping or jerking the mouth of a horse while at a District 1 race will not be tolerated under any
circumstances. While I understand that sometimes it's necessary to correct bad behavior, it's not acceptable
to beat your horse at a race, and you will be asked to leave the race if it is believed you're using excessive
force.

I am asking for everyone's cooperation with these rules. Please leave your alcohol at home, along with your
dog, and use common sense and be reasonable about correcting your horse at a race.

NSF CHECKS WRITTEN TO NBHA
Any one writing a NSF check to NBHA will be charged a $30.00 NSF fee per check they write. This is listed
on the NBHA headquarters membership form for all members to see. The 2nd NSF check written to NBHA
will result in the person's name being sent to headquarters and a possible suspension from NBHA. After the
2nd NSF check all fees to NBHA will be by CASH payment only.

AWARDS FEE
Members competing for a district1 year end award must pay the awards fee of $20.00 per division before
any points will count for the division competing in, i.e. open, youth or senior. Members must also have a
current NBHA membership, ride in at least 12 district 1 prime races, and also work at 8 district 1 prime
races during the current year. Deadline to pay the awards fee is August 1, 2012.

It is impossible to run a race and try to attend to these listed issues. Your help is needed and appreciated so
if you see this happening please speak to the person and if you feel you cannot, then contact me and I will try
to resolve the problem so we can continue to grow as a district and have as many barrel races as possible.
